tns_clerk_start(1) — Commands
NAME
tns_clerk_start − Starts the TNS clerk
SYNOPSIS
tns_clerk_start
DESCRIPTION
The tns_clerk_start command is used to create and enable the TeMIP Name Service (TNS) clerk on a system. The TNS clerk is the interface between TeMIP and TNS servers. A clerk must exist on every TeMIP director.
A clerk is enabled during temip_setup, and is re-enabled during system startup. Therefore, it is not normally necessary to issue the tns_clerk_start command directly. It is only necessary if the TNS clerk has been disabled, for example, by the tns_clerk_stop command.
On successful completion of the tns_clerk_start command, a tns_adv process is started.
RESTRICTIONS
tns_clerk_start can only be run under super-user.
tns_clerk_start will not re-start the clerk if it is already running.
