METAREPLACE(8) — MAINTENANCE COMMANDS
NAME
metareplace − replace components of submirrors
SYNOPSIS
/usr/etc/metareplace -e [ -n ] metamirror component
/usr/etc/metareplace [ -n ] metamirror component-old component-new
/usr/etc/metareplace -h
AVAILABILITY
This program is available with the Sun Online: DiskSuite software package.
DESCRIPTION
metareplace is used to replace components within a submirror.
metareplace will automatically start a resync to get the new component in sync with the rest of the metamirror. When the resync completes, the submirror that contains the replaced component becomes readable and writeable. However, if the −n option is present, then the resync operation is not performed and metasync(8) must be used before the submirror is a full replication of the metamirror (i.e., it can be read from and written to).
Note that the new component must be large enough to replace the old component.
OPTIONS
-h Display help message.
-e Transitions the state of component to the available state and resyncs the failed component. A failed component is a component within a submirror that has failed because it had a write error or the number of read errors has reached the error threshold. If the failed component has been hot spare replaced, the hot spare is placed in the available state and made available for other hot spare replacements.
-n Specifies no resync will be performed.
