METAD(8)  —  MAINTENANCE COMMANDS

NAME

metad − metadisk driver daemon

SYNOPSIS

/usr/etc/metad

AVAILABILITY

This program is available with the Sun Online: DiskSuite software package.

DESCRIPTION

metad, the metadisk driver daemons, are started when metainit(8) is invoked for the first time following a boot.  There are three metadisk daemons started by metainit.  The three daemons appear as proceses with no name when ps(1) is invoked.

metad handles error conditions, automatic fail over for metamirrors, and the hot spare facility.
