ncr710(7)  —

NAME

ncr710 − NCR 53C710 SCSI I/O Processor (SIOP)

DESCRIPTION

The ncr710 driver provides low-level interface routines between the High Perfomance Device Driver (see hpdd(7)) and the NCR 53C710 SIOP.  The NCR 53C710 must be the sole initiator on a SCSI bus. The ncr710 driver currently does not support Logical Unit Numbers (LUN).  Therefore, only seven SCSI devices can be attached to the NCR 53C710 SIOP at one time (target ID 0 through target ID 6). SCSI target ID 7 is used by the NCR 53C710 SIOP.

IRQ 11, 10, 14, and 15 can be used by the ncr710 driver. The ncr710 driver automatically configures itself to the IRQ set on the SIOP. The EISA configuration utility can be used to change the NCR 53C710’s IRQ.

NOTES:

  The ncr710 driver is a multi-threaded driver.

On some EISA systems, the EISA configuration utility must be run to enable the on-board NCR 53C710 SCSI processor.  If the on-board NCR 53C710 is disabled when the system is booted, the ncr710 driver will not detect the on-board NCR 53C710 SCSI processor.
