NAME

ida − COMPAQ low-level controller module

DESCRIPTION

The ida module provides low-level interface routines between the High Performance Device Driver (see hpdd(7)) and the COMPAQ Intelligent Disk Array (IDA).  It can be configured for disk support for one or more controller boards.  The low-level code tries to match the software configuration with the hardware configuration (see the INTERACTIVE UNIX System Installation and Maintenance Guide) and determines what types of devices are attached to the adapter. It handles simultaneous requests for all devices, overlapping operations where the devices will permit.

For information on configuring a kernel to include the ida module, refer to the INTERACTIVE UNIX System Installation and Maintenance Guide.

Board Configuration

If the IDA adapter is to be used as the primary adapter for the installation kernel, it must be configured to operate as the primary adapter using the Extended Industry Standard Architecture (EISA) configuration utility.  The installation kernel will access the IDA using its athd compatibility mode (see athd(7)).

Once the installation kernel is installed, kconfig(1) can be used to configure the ida module and allow the extended (EISA) features of the IDA adapter to be used.
