NAME
sbplay − play back sound files
SYNOPSIS
sbplay [ −v ] [ −d device ] [ −o level ] [ −outsel output ] file ...
DESCRIPTION
sbplay plays back the contents of Sony Multimedia format sound files supplied as arguments. Playback is made through an audio interface.
OPTIONS
−v specifies the name of the sound file currently being played back is displayed.
−d device
specifies the audio interface being used. If the −d option is not specified, /dev/sbe0 will be opened. If this fails, the device file /dev/sb0 will be opened.
−o outputlevel
specifies the output level. This value (∗1) can be from −32.0 dB to 0.0 dB in 0.5 dB increments. If not specified, the previous setting is used.
∗1This value can be from −8.0 dB to +8.0 dB in 2.0 dB increments on NWS-3100 series. The value 0.0 dB is always used when line output from the board is used with /dev/sbe0.
−outsel output
specifies the output select. The following options output are available. ∗2
sp Specifies built-in speaker as output.
kb Specifies keyboard speaker as output.
∗2NWS-5000 series only.
LIMITATIONS
NWS-3100 series does NOT support the following sound files;
Sound file of ADPCM.
Sound file of stereo.
And supports the following sampling frequency;
8000Hz
NWS-5000 series supports the following sampling frequency;
8000Hz, 16000Hz, 32000Hz, 9450Hz, 18900Hz, 37800Hz
11025Hz, 22050Hz, 44100Hz, 12000Hz, 24000Hz, 48000Hz, 44056Hz
The other NEWS support the following sampling frequency;
8000Hz, 9450Hz, 18900Hz, 37800Hz
