lmdown(1)
NAME
lmdown − graceful shutdown of all license daemons
SYNOPSIS
lmdown −c license_file [ −vendor vendor_daemon_name ]
[ −q ]
DESCRIPTION
lmdown sends a message to every license daemon asking it to shut down. The license daemons write out their last messages to the log file, close the file, and exit. All licenses that have been given out by those daemons will be rescinded so that the next time a client program goes to verify a license, it will not be valid.
You must be a superuser or a designated user through the adjust_flexlm_owner script to use the lmdown utility. The lmdown utility is located in /etc/opt/licenses.
OPTIONS
−c license_file
Use the specified license_file. If you specify a directory with many license files, lmdown presents you with a choice of servers to shut down.
−vendor vendor_daemon_name
Shut down only this one vendor daemon (for example, sunwlicd). lmgrd.ste will always continue running if this option is specified.
−q Do not prompt or print a header. Otherwise, lmdown asks "Are you sure? [y/n]:."
SEE ALSO
lmstat(1), lmreread(1), adjust_flexlm_owner(1).
NOTES
To stop and restart a single vendor daemon, use lmdown -vendor vendor_daemon_name. Then use lmreread -vendor vendor_daemon_name to restart the vendor daemon. When shutting down redundant servers, there is a one-minute delay before the servers shut down. Do not use kill -9 to shut down the license servers.
