NAME

lmreread − tells the license daemon to reread the license file and start any new vendor daemons that have been added

SYNOPSIS

lmreread  −c license_file [ -vendor vendor_daemon_name ]

DESCRIPTION

lmreread allows the system administrator to tell the license daemon to reread the license file and start any new vendor daemons that have been added.  In addition, all running daemons will be signaled to reread the license file for changes in feature licensing information.  This can be useful if the data in the license file has changed; the new data can be loaded into the license daemon without shutting down and restarting it.

To stop and restart a single vendor daemon, use lmdown -vendor vendor_daemon_name; then use lmreread -vendor vendor_daemon_name to restart the vendor daemon.

If you use the -c option, the license file specified will be read by lmreread, not by lmgrd.ste; lmgrd.ste rereads the file it read originally.

Under the following circumstances, you cannot use lmreread to restart the license daemons: 1) if you edit the daemon_options file, or 2) if you move your license server from one machine to another.

You must be a superuser or a designated user through the adjust_flexlm_owner script to use the lmreread utility.  The lmreread utility is located in /etc/opt/licenses.

OPTIONS

−c license_file
Use the specified license_file.

-vendor vendor_daemon_name
Only this one vendor daemon (for example, sunwlicd) should reread the license file. lmgrd.ste will restart the vendor daemon if necessary.
