METASTAT(1M)
NAME
metastat − print status for metadevice
SYNOPSIS
/usr/opt/SUNWmd/sbin/metastat [−s setname ] [ −hpt ] [ metadevice... ]
AVAILABILITY
This program is available with the Solstice DiskSuite software package (SUNWmd).
DESCRIPTION
metastat prints the current status for each active metadevice. If metadevice is specified, metastat reports only the status of that metadevice. If metadevice is not specified, all metadevices and hot spare pools are displayed.
If invoked with the −h option, metastat displays a help message.
OPTIONS
−h Displays usage message.
−p Displays the list of active metadevices in md.tab(4) like format.
−s setname
Specifies the name of the diskset on which metastat will work. Using the −s option will cause the command to perform its administrative function within the specified diskset. Without this option, the command will perform its function on your local metadevices and/or hot spare pools.
−t Prints the current status and timestamp for the specified metadevices. The timestamp provides the date and time of the last state change.
WARNING
metastat prints states as of the time the command is entered. It is unwise to use the output of the metastat -p command to create a md.tab(4) file for a number of reasons:
• The output of metastat -p may show hot spares being used.
• It may show metamirrors with multiple submirrors. See metainit(1M) for instructions for creating multi-way mirrors using metainit and metattach.
• A component may go into an error state after metastat -p is issued.
