METAPARAM(1M)

NAME

metaparam − modify parameters of metadevices and metamirrors

SYNOPSIS

/usr/opt/SUNWmd/sbin/metaparam [−s setname ] [ −r roundrobin | geometric | first ]
[ −w parallel | serial ] [ −p pass_number ] metamirror /usr/opt/SUNWmd/sbin/metaparam [−s setname ] [ −h hot_spare_pool | none ]
metadevice | metaraid

AVAILABILITY

This program is available with the Solstice DiskSuite software package (SUNWmd).

DESCRIPTION

metaparam is used to display or modify current parameters of metadevices.  The current parameters are identical to those displayed by the metastat(1M) command.

If only the metadevice is specified as an argument to metaparam, the current settings are displayed.

metaparam allows for the changing of all metamirror and metadevice parameters with the exception of the interlace value, which initially must be done using the metainit(1M) command.

OPTIONS

−r roundrobin | geometric | first
Modifies read option for a metamirror.  The −r option must be followed by either roundrobin, geometric, or first.  roundrobin, which is the default action under metainit(1M), specifies reading the disks in a round-robin (load balancing) method.  geometric allows for faster performance on sequential reads.  first specifies reading only from the first submirror.

−w parallel | serial
Modifies the write option for a metamirror.  The −w option must be followed by either parallel or serial.  parallel, the default action under metainit, specifies that all writes happen in parallel.  serial specifies that writes should occur in serial.

−p pass_number
A number in the range 0-to-9 that specifies the order in which a mirror is resynced during reboot.  Smaller pass numbers are resynced first.  Equal pass numbers are run concurrently.  When 0 is entered, the mirror resync is skipped (this should only be used for mirrors mounted read only).  The default is 1.

−h hot_spare_pool | none
Specifies the hot spare pool to be used by a metadevice.  If none is specified, no hot spare pool is used.  If the metadevice is currently using a hot spare, then metaparam can not replace the hot spare pool.

−s setname
Specifies the name of the diskset on which metaparam will work.  Using the −s option will cause the command to perform its administrative function within the specified diskset.  Without this option, the command will perform its function on your local metadevices.
