  PARAMETERS

    xdrs   Specifies the address of the XDR handle.

    len    Specifies the byte length of the desired buffer.

  DESCRIPTION

    The xdr_inline() function allows C programmers to describe arbitrary data
    structures in a machine-independent fashion.  Data for remote procedure
    calls are transmitted using this function.

    The xdr_inline() function is a macro that invokes the in-line function
    associated with the XDR stream, xdrs.  The function returns a pointer to a
    contiguous piece of the stream's buffer.  The len parameter is the byte
    length of the desired buffer.  Note that pointer is cast to long *.

  RETURN VALUES

    The xdr_inline() function may return NULL if it cannot allocate a
    contiguous piece of a buffer.  Therefore, the behavior may vary among
    stream instances.  This function exists for the sake of efficiency.
