svcrun(3) CLIX svcrun(3)
NAME
svc_run - Library function for remote procedure calls
LIBRARY
Berkeley Software Distribution Library (libbsd.a)
SYNOPSIS
void svc_run(
void );
DESCRIPTION
The svc_run() function allows C programs to make procedure calls on other
machines across the network. First, the client calls a procedure to send
a data packet to the server. Upon receipt of the packet, the server calls
a dispatch routine to perform the requested service, and then sends back a
reply. Finally, the procedure call returns to the client.
The svc_run() function never returns. It waits for RPC requests to
arrive, and calls the appropriate service procedure using svc_getreq()
when one arrives. This procedure is usually waiting for a select()
function to return.
RETURN VALUES
This function returns void.
