volcopy(1M-ufs) volcopy(1M-ufs)
NAME
volcopy (ufs) - make a literal copy of a ufs file system
SYNOPSIS
volcopy [-F ufs] [genericoptions] fsname srcdevice volname1 destde-
vice volname2
DESCRIPTION
volcopy makes a literal copy of the ufs file system using a blocksize
matched to the device (raw device only).
OPTIONS
-F ufs Specifies the ufs-FSType.
genericoptions Options supported by the generic volcopy command.
The fsname argument is the same as the fsname specified with
labelit(1M-ufs). If there is no fsname, then "" (empty character
string) must be specified.
The srcdevice or destdevice should be the physical disk section or
tape (e.g. /dev/ios0/rsdisk000s3, /dev/ios0/rstape00, etc.).
The volname is the physical volume name. Such label names are limited
to six or fewer characters. volname may be "-" to use the existing
volume name.
srcdevice and volname1 are the device and volume from which the copy
of the file system is being extracted. destdevice and volname2 are the
target device and volume.
fsname and volname are recorded in the superblock (char fsname[6],
volname[6];).
NOTE
volcopy does not support tape-to-tape copying. Use dd(1) for tape-to-
tape copying.
FILES
/var/adm/filesave.log
