slip.config(4) slip.config(4)
NAME slip.config - establishes the number of available Compressed Serial Line/Internet Protocol (CSL/IP) connections DESCRIPTION The /etc/slip.config file is configured on the CSL/IP server to establish the number of serial lines available as CSL/IP connections. After you set up /etc/slip.config, run the mkslipuser command, which creates a binary file, /etc/slip.user. The slip command examines /etc/slip.user to determine the number of available CSL/IP connections and to assign a serial line to a network interface for a point-to- point TCP/IP link. The /etc/slip.config file contains one or more entries, each of which consists of the Internet address of the CSL/IP server. You specify one entry for each serial line that you wish to make available as a CSL/IP line. For example, on a system whose Internet address is 128.120.254.3, this /etc/slip.config file makes three serial lines available as CSL/IP connections: 128.120.254.3 128.120.254.3 128.120.254.3 The mkslipuser command interprets a line that begins with a number sign (#) as a comment. Only the system administrator of the CSL/IP server can modify /etc/slip.config.
