EQNCHAR(7)              COMMAND REFERENCE              EQNCHAR(7)

NAME
     eqnchar - special character definitions for eqn and neqn

     The eqn command is not supported for UTek workstations.

SYNOPSIS
     eqn /usr/pub/eqnchar [ filenames] | troff [ options]
     neqn /usr/pub/eqnchar [ filenames] | troff [ options]

DESCRIPTION
     Eqnchar contains troff and nroff character definitions for
     constructing characters that are not available on a
     phototypesetter. These definitions are primarily intended
     for use with eqn and neqn. Eqnchar contains definitions for
     the following characters:

     ciplus    ⊕           ||        ||         square    []
     citimes   ⊗           langle    <          circle    O
     wig       ~           rangle    >          blot      ◼
     -wig      -           hbar      ℏ          bullet    •
     >wig      >           ppd       |          prop      oc
     <wig      ≲           <->       <-->       empty     ∅
     =wig      ≅           <=>       <=>        member    ∈

Apseqnchar is a version of eqnchar tailored for the Autologic APS-5 phototypesetter. This will not look optimal on other phototypesetters. Similarly, cateqnchar is the old eqnchar tailored for the Wang CAT. Until a phototypesetter-independent version of eqnchar is available, eqnchar should be a link to the default version on each system. The standard default is apseqnchar.
