amregister(1M) amregister(1M)
NAME
amregister - register or deregister the system
SYNOPSIS
/usr/etc/amregister [ [ -s serial_number ] -r | -d ]
DESCRIPTION
amregister turns the autoemail configuration flag on or off, generates
registration or deregistration reports, and emails reports according to
the autoemail.list configuration file.
The -r option turns on autoemail and generates registration reports; the
-d option turns off autoemail and generates deregistration reports. If
either option is used, amregister mails the reports according to
autoemail.list. If no option is given, amregister asks whether to turn
on autoemail. If yes, amregister invokes amconfig(1M) to allow editing
of autoemail.list, and then mails the registration report(s). If no,
amregister will mail deregistration report(s) to addresses configured in
autoemail.list.
In all cases, amregister will mail registration or deregistration reports
only if the value of autoemail is changed. For example, if autoemail is
already on, amregister with the -r option will not generate registration
reports.
After availmon is installed, amregister should be run to enable
automatically sending availmon reports, and to optionally configure
addresses in autoemail.list. Availmon reports contain system serial
numbers. The system serial number is machine readable on all relatively
recent hardware platforms (see amsysinfo(1M) for the complete platform
list). For such platforms, availmon always uses the machine readable
serial number, and amregister does not allow entering a serial number
using the -s option. Otherwise, use the -s option to specify the serial
number (from the back of the machine).
