MKBOOTFLP(1M)  —  Silicon Graphics

NAME

mkbootflp − create a bootable unix floppy disk

SYNOPSIS

/etc/mkbootflp

DESCRIPTION

Mkbootflp is used to create a floopy disk from which an IRIS can be booted.  It first makes a filesystem on the floppy and mounts it.  It then copies the kernel, /vmunix, and the other files needed to boot from the floppy. Finally, it patches the kernel on the floppy to expect the root filesystem to be on /dev/mf0a.

The floppy created by mkbootflp is used when building a UNIX on a hard disk from floppies.

This program can only be run by the super-user.  The floppy must already have been formatted using flp(1) before running mkbootflp.

FILES

/vmunixkernel
/dev/mf0afloppy disk
