snmpd(1M)  —  ADMINISTRATOR COMMANDS

NAME

snmpd - SNMP daemon

SYNOPSIS

/etc/snmpd [-v]

DESCRIPTION

Snmpd is the Internet Simple Network Management Protocol server process.  The server uses the UDP protocol and listens at the port specified in the “snmp” service specification; see services(4).

Snmpd uses three configuration files.  They are /etc/snmpd.conf, /etc/snmpd.comm, and /etc/snmpd.trap.  /etc/snmpd.conf is read to initialize the elements in the system group.  The other two files, /etc/snmpd.comm and /etc/snmpd.trap, are used to initialize the lists of systems in the communities that will be allowed to access the Management Information Base on the local system.  See snmpd.conf(4), snmpd.comm(4), and snmpd.trap(4) for more information on the format and uses of these files.

The optional argument, −v, is used to enable debugging output.  Debugging information is written to standard output.

FILES

/etc/snmpd.conf
/etc/snmpd.comm
/etc/snmpd.trap

LIMITATIONS

Not all MIB variables as specified in RFC 1156 and RFC 1158 can be supported without source code alterations to the kernel, transport implementation, or device drivers.
