NETTRDUMP(1M) — Series 300 and 800 Only
NAME
nettrdump − dump the contents of the trace buffer
SYNOPSIS
/usr/bin/nettrdump [ -b ] [ -c corefile ] [ -h [ kernel ] ]
The Series 300 does not implement the -c corefile option.
DESCRIPTION
Nettrdump dumps the current contents of the trace kernel buffer to standard output. This command requires super-user capability for all but the nettrdump −c corefile usage. HP recommends that you not use the nettrdump command after issuing a nettrstart −f filename command without first executing nettrstop -p. The two commands may interfere with each other and produce inconsistent results.
The nettrdump options are:
-b Dump the kernel buffer in binary form for later formatting. Default: Dump the kernel buffer in formatted form.
−c corefile Extract tracing information from the core dump file corefile. Useful after a system crash. Super-user capability not required.
The Series 300 does not use this option. It defaults to /dev/kmem instead.
−h [ kernel ] Extract tracing information from the kernel file. Default: /hp-ux.
FILES
/dev/nsdiag1 NS diagnostics multiple access device file used for ioctl()’s.
DIAGNOSTICS
Messages indicate incorrect usage, network tracing had not been started when a dump was initiated or a dump was attempted before executing nettrstop -p, the file could not be opened, or the user is not privileged.
DEPENDENCIES
Implemented on the Series 300 and 800 only.
