YPPOLL(1M) — Series 300 Only
NAME
yppoll - query a Yellow Pages server for information about
a Yellow Pages map
SYNOPSIS
/usr/etc/yp/yppoll [ -h host ] [ -d domain ] mapname
DESCRIPTION
The yppoll command asks a Yellow Pages (YP) server process (see ypserv(1M)) to return the order number (the time(2) in seconds when the map was built) and master YP server’s host name for a YP database named mapname. The yppoll command then writes them to the standard output. If the server uses Version 1 YP protocol, yppoll uses this older protocol to communicate with it. The yppoll also prints the older diagnostic messages in case of failure.
Refer to ypfiles(4) and ypserv(1M) for an overview of the YP.
Options
−h host
Ask the ypserv(1M) process on host to return the map information. If −h host is not specified, the host returned by ypwhich(1) is used.
−d domain
Use domain instead of the domain returned by domainname(1).
