DOMAINNAME(1) — Series 300 Only
NAME
domainname - set or display the name of the Yellow Pages
domain
SYNOPSIS
domainname [ nameofdomain ]
DESCRIPTION
The Yellow Pages (YP) uses domain names to refer collectively to a group of hosts. Without an argument, domainname displays the name of the YP domain. Only the super-user can set the domain name by providing nameofdomain; it is usually set in the startup script /etc/netnfsrc.
DEPENDENCIES
Series 300
YP servers use the YP domain name as the name of a subdirectory of /usr/etc/yp. The Series 300 has a 14-character filename length restriction, though YP domain names can be as long as 64 characters. For a Series 300 to act correctly as a YP server, care should be taken to make the first 14 characters of all YP domains on a network unique.
