keylogout(1)
NAME
keylogout − delete a secret key
SYNOPSIS
keylogout [-f]
Remarks
The Network Information Service (NIS) was formerly known as Yellow Pages (yp). Although the name has changed, the functionality of the service remains the same.
DESCRIPTION
keylogout deletes the key stored in the keyserv process.
Further access to the key is revoked and background and scheduled jobs that need secure RPC services will fail. Current session keys may remain valid, however, until they expire or are refreshed.
Options
The keylogout routine supports the following option:
-f Forces the removal of root’s secret key. If performed on a NFS server, this will disable secure NFS.
WARNINGS
For keylogout to succeed, NIS and the keyserv process, keyserv, must be running.
Trying to execute keylogout from root will produce the following warning if the -f option is not used:
keylogout by root would break all servers that use secure rpc!
root may use keylogout -f to do this (at our own risk!)
Adding the keylogout command to a user’s .logout file is not recommended, since a single copy of the key is maintained for each machine and will affect other sessions on the same machine.

keylogout was developed by Sun Microsystems, Inc.
