keylogin(1)
NAME
keylogin − decrypt and store a user’s secret key
SYNOPSIS
keylogin
Remarks
The Network Information Service (NIS) was formerly known as Yellow Pages (yp). Although the name has changed, the functionality of the service remains the same.
DESCRIPTION
keylogin prompts the user for a login password, which it uses to decrypt the user’s secret key. The decrypted key is then stored by the local keyserv process, keyserv.
Normally, login does this work when the user logs onto the system; keylogin may be required if the user logs in without a password.
EXAMPLES
keylogin
Password: xxxxx
WARNINGS
For keylogin to succeed, both NIS and the keyserv process, keyserv, must be running.
AUTHOR
keylogin was developed by Sun Microsystems, Inc.
