NAME
statd - status monitor for status-dependent RPC services

SYNOPSIS
     /usr/lib/nfs/statd

DESCRIPTION
The Network Status Monitor (NSM). It is required by the lock manager
for restoring lock tables after system crashes and must be running on

dependent RPC daemons to provide restart functions after system
     crashes.

NOTE
The statd services are used by the NLM (Network Lock Manager)
     processes lockd-clnt and lockd-srv.

FILES
     /etc/sm
     /etc/sm.bak
     /etc/state
