hashmake(1) hashmake(1)
NAME
hashmake - create hashed spelling list
SYNOPSIS
/usr/lib/spell/hashmake
DESCRIPTION
hashmake, hashcheck and spellin are a group of auxiliary routines for
the spell-checking program spell. The spell command uses spelling
lists to determine the correct spelling of words. You can use the aux-
iliary routines to maintain and extend the existing spelling lists and
to create new lists.
hashmake reads a list of words from standard input and writes the
coded words to standard output in the form of a hash list. The hashing
technique generates a nine-digit hash code.
This is the first step in creating a new spelling list [see spell(1)]
or adding new words to an existing list.
hashmake must always be used before spellin.
