NAME
pa - Interphase 5515 ATM Permanent Virtual Circuit (PVC) STREAMS
       Driver

SYNOPSIS
       /dev/pa

DESCRIPTION
The pa is a STREAMS driver works in conjunction with the ia
Interphase 5515 ATM device driver to provide Permanent Virtual
Circuit (PVC) support as defined in RFC-1483. The pa driver is a
STREAMS multiplexer providing DLPI style 2 support. The pa driver
supports either null or LLC/SNAP encapsulations as described in RFC
1483 for point to point PVC connections. pa is I_LINKED over the ia
Interphase 5515 ATM STREAMS device driver by the pcvsetup utility.
Multicast or broadcast operations are not supported by pa.
Destination IP address to VC mapping is done in the arp table.

In order to use the PVC STREAMS driver both pa and ia must be
configured into your system. pa is configured into your system by
adding pa() to the DG/UX system configuration file. (See the ia(7)
man page for details on how to configure ia into your system.) After
ia and pa are configured into your system, you must specify the PVC
interface in the /etc/tcpip.params file. This is done by specifying
the interface to be paN where N is the PPA (Physical Point of
Attachment) used by atmbind. (See atmbind(1m) for more details.)

For information about installing the software distribution, refer to
       the R4.11MU03 Release Notice.

EXAMPLE
The following is an example of specifying the interface host-pvc will
be a PVC type connection going over PPA 0.

       HOSTNAME=hostpvc DEVICE=pa0 NETMASK=0xffffff00

NOTES
The pa driver can not function alone. It requires services provided
       by ia(7).
