NAME
li - Interphase 5515 ATM Lan Emulation (LANE) STREAMS Driver
SYNOPSIS
/dev/li
DESCRIPTION
The li is a STREAMS driver works in conjunction with the ia
Interphase 5515 ATM device driver to provide LAN Emulation (LANE)
support as specified in ATM Forum's "LAN Emulation Over ATM
Specification". The li driver is a STREAMS multiplexer providing
DLPI style 2 support. The li driver provides the appearance of
connectionless service including multicast and broadcast operations.
li is I_LINKED over the ia Interphase 5515 ATM STREAMS device driver
by the lanesetup utility.
In order to use the LANE STREAMS driver both li and ia must be
configured into your system. li is configured into your system by
adding li() to the DG/UX system configuration file. (See the ia(7)
man page for details on how to configure ia into your system.) After
ia and li are configured into your system, you must specify the LANE
interface in the /etc/tcpip.params file. This is done by specifying
the interface to be liN where N is the PPA (Physical Point of
Attachment) used by atmbind and is also used in specifying which
lecconf file is to be used by lec. (See atmbind(1m) and lec(1m) for
more details.) LAN Emulation required the signalling deamon signald
to be running in order to function properly.
For information about installing the software distribution, refer to
the R4.11MU03 Release Notice.
EXAMPLE
The following is an example of specifying the interface host-lane
will be a LANE type connection for PPA 0.
HOSTNAME=host-lane DEVICE=li0 NETMASK=0xffffff00
BROADCAST=128.222.5.255

NOTES
The li driver can not function alone. It requires services provided
by ia(7).
