     NAME
          eqnchar - special equation character definitions for eqn and
          neqn

     SYNOPSIS
          eqn /usr/pub/eqnchar [ files ] | troff [ options ]

          neqn /usr/pub/eqnchar [ files ] | nroff [ options ]

     DESCRIPTION
          Eqnchar contains troff(1) and nroff(1) character definitions
          for constructing characters that are not available on a
          phototypesetter. These definitions are primarily intended
          for use with eqn(1) and neqn; eqnchar contains definitions
          for the following characters:

          ciplus    ⊕     ||        ||    square    []
          citimes   ⊗     langle    <     circle    O
          wig       ~     rangle    >     blot      ◼
          -wig      -     hbar      ℏ     bullet    •
          >wig      >     ppd       |     prop      oc
          <wig      ≲     <->       <-->  empty     ∅
          =wig      ≅     <=>       <=>   member    ∈

FILES /usr/pub/eqnchar CAVEATS Changes in the underlying font definitions (or other parts of the software) will probably disturb the definitions of these characters. However, it is not too hard to adjust them yourself. The characters are built from troff(1) characters and local motions; /usr/pub/eqnchar is a text file and can be edited. For many of the characters, there is a separate definition for neqn(1) and eqn(1). The neqn(1) definitions are approximations at best, since a lineprinter does not have the characters or resolution of motion to build characters accurately. They are most useful in previewing material that will eventually be typeset. Licensed material--property of copyright holder(s) Page 1
