NAME

  temip_check − TeMIP data integrity checking tool

SYNOPSIS

  temip_check [-v]  group_descriptor1 group_descriptor2... 
 

DESCRIPTION

  The temip_check command is used to check that files containing TeMIP data are structurally good. 

This command must be issued when there is a doubt on TeMIP data integrity, typically after an unexpected reboot or an hardware failure of the local system. 

The checking operation are performed on files involved in the group descriptor(s) given as parameter(s). 

Output gives a global report of the whole checking operations and, for each checked group, are displayed warning messages or detected errors. 
A set of possible ways to solve the problem is listed at the end of in error group report.

RESTRICTIONS

You must be root to use this command. 

ARGUMENTS

group_descriptor
Group descriptors are the ones used to configure TeMIP backup operations. Refer to temip_backup reference manual to get more information about groups and descriptor format. 

When called without any parameter, usage information is displayed. 

FLAGS

-v
Verbose mode: detailed output of low-level checking tools is printed out.

EXEMPLES

1.Checks the whole TeMIP local configuration: # temip_check /save/groups/∗.group 2.Checks particular groups suspected to be corrupted: # temip_check /save/groups/ah.group /save/groups/el.group

NOTES

Before using temip_check, TeMIP backup procedures have to be put in place according to actual TeMIP configurations. Particularly, the groups descriptors must be customized according to files actual location and names. 
Furthermore, save procedures must be operative, typically by using cron facility, to be able to apply restore or recover actions in order to solve problems temip_check may find out. 

temip_check is doing read operations only, therefore it can run concurrently of TeMIP applications.
