NAME

voladvdomencap − Encapsulate AdvFS domain storage devices

SYNOPSIS

/usr/sbin/voladvdomencap [-g diskgroup] [-N] { advdomname }

/sbin/vol-reconfig

DESCRIPTION

The voladvdomencap script converts the underlying AdvFS domain storage devices into LSM volumes of an existing LSM disk group. All the AdvFS domain storage devices are defined as nopriv (no private region) devices and added into the specified LSM disk group. Each storage device is defined as a LSM volume and the corresponding soft link in the domain directory tree is changed to point to the newly created LSM volume.

The LSM command scripts created by the voladvdomencap command are executed by running /sbin/vol-reconfig. You can run /sbin/vol-reconfig manually or you can modify the /etc/inittab file so that the changes are made during the next system reboot.

You can call the voladvdomencap script as a standalone script.

Refer to the DEC OSF/1 Logical Storage Manager for more information about the encapsulation process.

FLAGS

-g diskgroup
Place the encapsulated AdvFS domain storage devices into the disk group specified by disk group ID or disk group name. The disk group specified must be an existing disk group. If no disk group is specified, rootdg is used.

-NSpecify that the changes that have been logged to be made during the next reboot should not be committed.  In the usual case of operation of this command, any system failure before the reboot will cause the operations to be completed on the next reboot.  With the -N flag specified, the changes will not complete and the operation will abort if the system fails at any point before the successful configuration change. This is accomplished by not creating the usual /etc/vol/reconfig.d/state.d/reconfig.advdom commit file.
