This is something that's been under consideration for years, as it's very easy to do. The problem is that drop shadows result in window regions that are nonrectangular, and this affects performance in clipping calculations, if only a little. There are no current plans to implement drop shadows in the BeOS.

Is there a way to kill or "force quit" an application in the BeOS?
