cp − copy files [-b blocksize] [-c count] file1 file2 copies the contents of file1 to file2.  The flag specifies a blocksize for the transfer, if not specified the blocksize defaults to 512 bytes.  For raw devices, the blocksize should be an integral multiple of the device physical record length.  The flag specifies a maximum byte count to be transferred, if not specified the copy terminates on EOF on file1.  indicates its progress by printing a "." for every record transferred.
