NAME
dbs - display board status
SYNOPSIS
dbs
AVAILABILITY
This command is available only on RC6380 systems.
DESCRIPTION
dbs is a PROM monitor or standalone shell (sash(1M)) command
that displays the current status of boards in the system and
how the PROM uses them. An init(1prom) command or a power
on initialization of the PROM also displays the current
status.
The following information appears on this display:
SLOT Physical slot number containing board
SBC REV Revision number (in decimal) of the System Bus
Control chip
HDWR TYPE Type of hardware board:
cpu Central processing unit. The
description column indicates the
logical number assigned to the CPU
by the PROM program. The description
also indicates if the CPU is a
snoopy type capable of snoop opera-
tions (see snoop(1prom)).
ioc Input/output controller
mem Memory board
CPU REV Hexadecimal value contained in bits 0 through
7 of the CPU PRID register
FPA REV Hexadecimal value contained in bits 0 through
7 of the Floating Point Units Revision regis-
ter
SOFT STATE Logical state of the CPUs:
on Executable (master CPU only)
off CPU is logically turned off
idle CPU is a slave, on, not busy, not
hung, and capable of receiving

hung Currently executing software has not
returned the processor to its idle
loop or has checked in at reset time
but cannot be found
busy Processor is currently busy execut-
ing software that does not allow it
to communicate with other processors
SOFT TYPE Logical type of the CPU. This value can be
either master or slave:
master CPU that controls the operation of
other processors in the system
slave CPU that acts on commands from the
master CPU
DESCRIPTION Further information about the boards
Information lines at the bottom of the display provide addi-
tional information such as the current boot mode.
