DBS(1prom) RISC/os Reference Manual DBS(1prom)

NAME
     dbs - display board status

SYNOPSIS
     dbs

AVAILABILITY
This command is available only on RC6380 systems.

DESCRIPTION
dbs is a PROM monitor or standalone shell (sash(1M)) command
that displays the current status of boards in the system and
how the PROM uses them. An init(1prom) command or a power
on initialization of the PROM also displays the current
     status.

The following information appears on this display:

SLOT Physical slot number containing board

SBC REV Revision number (in decimal) of the System Bus
                   Control chip

HDWR TYPE Type of hardware board:

                   cpu Central processing unit. The
                             description column indicates the
logical number assigned to the CPU
by the PROM program. The description
also indicates if the CPU is a
snoopy type capable of snoop opera-
                             tions (see snoop(1prom)).

                   ioc Input/output controller

                   mem Memory board

CPU REV Hexadecimal value contained in bits 0 through
7 of the CPU PRID register

FPA REV Hexadecimal value contained in bits 0 through
7 of the Floating Point Units Revision regis-
                   ter

SOFT STATE Logical state of the CPUs:

                   on Executable (master CPU only)

off CPU is logically turned off

idle CPU is a slave, on, not busy, not
                             hung, and capable of receiving

hung Currently executing software has not
returned the processor to its idle
loop or has checked in at reset time
                             but cannot be found

busy Processor is currently busy execut-
ing software that does not allow it
                             to communicate with other processors

SOFT TYPE Logical type of the CPU. This value can be
                   either master or slave:

master CPU that controls the operation of
                             other processors in the system

slave CPU that acts on commands from the
                             master CPU

DESCRIPTION Further information about the boards

Information lines at the bottom of the display provide addi-
tional information such as the current boot mode.
