NAME

mt − magnetic tape manipulating program

SYNOPSIS

mt [ −t tapename ] command [ count ]

DESCRIPTION

Mt is used to give commands to the tape drive.  If a tape name is not specified, /dev/rmt12 is used.  If a count is not specified, 1 is assumed. 

Here are the commands:

eofwrite count end-of-file marks
fsfspace forward count files
fsrspace forward count records
bsfspace backward count files
bsrspace backward count records
rewrewind tape
offlrewind tape and go offline:
