NAME
tape − Tape drive control.
SYNOPSIS
tape [-t tapeDevice] [options]
OPTIONS
−t tapeDeviceThis specifies the tape device file. The default is “/dev/tape0”.
−TRetension the tape.
−eSkip to the end of the tape.
−EErase the whole tape.
−rRewind the tape.
−RRead the tape ’til end-of-file.
−B blocksizeBlocksize for read and write transfers.
−W numblocksWrite numblocks blocks to the tape.
−f numfilesSkip numfiles files. If numfiles < 0, backwards skip.
−b numblocksSkip numblocks blocks.
−m nummarksWrite the given number of file marks on the tape.
−g blockNumSkip to a particular block on the tape.
−sPrint out the status of the tape drive.
−lLoad the tape.
−uUnload the tape.
−pPrevent tape removal.
−aAllow tape removal.
−iPerform a tape inquiry.
DESCRIPTION
Tape is used to control tape drives. A tape can be rewound, files and blocks can be skipped, and testing files can be written and read.
