INTRODUCTION

This program allows modification of the user log.  The caller must have write-access to the log database files.  Modulog is typically used at boot time to invalidate old login entries.  It can also be used to invalidate particular entries for the host on which it is invoked, or create new ones.

If the −C switch is given, then modulog will invalidate login entries.  Otherwise, if the −i and −p switches are given, modulog will invalidate only the entry corresponding to the port specified by the −p switch.   Finally, if the -p, and -l switches are used together, a new login entry will be recorded, as if user logged in from location on /hosts/‘hostname‘/dev/rloginport at the time modulog is run.  To generate a login record for the console, specify a  port of 0 and a location of “”.  User defaults to the user invoking the modulog program.

/sprite/admin/data/userLog
The database of current logins on each host.

/sprite/admin/data/lastLog
The database of each user’s most recent login.

/hosts/‘hostname‘/dev/rlogin∗
Pseudo-devices used by Rlogin, corresponding to ports 1 and beyond.
