TIMED(8N) COMMAND REFERENCE TIMED(8N)
NAME
timed - time daemon
SYNOPSIS
/etc/timed [ -a ] [ -b ] [ -d ] [ -f logfile ] [ -t minutes
] remotehost
DESCRIPTION
Timed is a network server that implements a simple time
synchronization service.
The local host's time is compared to the time of the
remotehost every 60 minutes. If the times differ, the local
host's time will be synchronized to the time of the
remotehost.
OPTIONS
-a Get the remote host's time by using the udp service time
instead of the default service of utime. Use this option
if the remote host is a non-UTek host. This time is
accurate to one second, whereas UTek time is accurate to
1/10 second.
-b Boottime; invoke timed as part of the booting process.
This begins the timed synchronization process.
-d Debugging; don't spawn a new process and don't
disconnect the tty.
-f logfile
Instead of writing error messages to syslog(8), write
them to logfile.
-t minutes
Synchronize clocks every minutes minutes instead of the
default of every 60 minutes.
RETURN VALUE
[USAGE] Incorrect command line syntax. Execution
terminated.
[NO_ERRS] Command completed without error.
[NP_WARN] An error warranting a warning message
occurred. Execution continues.
[NP_ERR] An error occurred that was not a system
error. Execution terminated.
[P_ERR] A system error occurred. Execution
terminated. See intro(2) for more
information on system errors.
