CHSH(1) COMMAND REFERENCE CHSH(1)
NAME
chsh - change default login shell
SYNOPSIS
chsh name [ shell ]
DESCRIPTION
Chsh is a command similar to passwd (1) except that it is
used to change the login shell field of the password file
rather than the password entry. If no shell is specified
then the shell reverts to the default login shell /bin/sh.
Otherwise, any executable file can be specified as the
shell. If the full path to a file is not specified, for
example, the name does not start with "/", chsh will prepend
/bin.
EXAMPLES
An example use of this command would be:
chsh bill /bin/csh
CAVEATS
If the file exists and is executable, it will be installed
as your login shell. Make sure you really want that file as
your shell. An error may make login impossible and super-
user intervention necessary.
