SHOWMOUNT(8) COMMAND REFERENCE SHOWMOUNT(8) NAME showmount - show all remote mounts SYNOPSIS /usr/etc/showmount [ -a ] [ -d ] [ -e ] [ host ] DESCRIPTION The command showmount lists all clients that have remotely- mounted a file system from host; this information is maintained by the mountd(8c) server on host, and is saved across crashes in the file /etc/rmtab. The default value for host is the value returned by hostname(1n). OPTIONS -d List directories that have been remotely mounted by clients. -a Print all remote mounts in the format hostname:directory where hostname is the name of the client, and directory is the root of the file system that has been mounted. -e Print the list of exported file systems. CAVEATS If a client crashes, its entry will not be removed from the list until it reboots and executes the umount -a command. If changes are made in the /etc/exports source, those changes are seen immediately when the client runs the showmount -e servername command; the changes also affect the next client mount request. If changes are made on the server in /etc/exports after a client has mounted the server's file system, the mount is not affected. What was mounted is still mounted, even if the changes in /etc/exports make the current mount illegal. SEE ALSO exports(5), rmtab(5), mountd(8c). Printed 4/6/89 1
