TCPRFORMS(5) COMMAND REFERENCE TCPRFORMS(5) NAME tcprforms - TCPR valid forms file SYNOPSIS /usr/lib/tcpr/tcprforms DESCRIPTION The file /usr/lib/tcpr/tcprforms is used by the tcpr (Tektronix color printer) commands to determine the valid media forms and sizes for Tektronix color printers. The tcprforms file contains any number of line entries of the form: <printer_type> <media_name> <media_type> <width> <length> <width_dpi> <length_dpi> <alias> [<alias> ... ] The printer_type field is a string that matches the value field of a Generic Rastor Format (GRF) destinationdevice, copiertype or printertype GRF tag. If all GRF tags are supported, then each forms type for a printer has three entries in the file. For the GRF tag destinationdevice legal value fields are: 4692, 4693d, and 4696 representing the Tektronix 4692, 4693D, and 4696 color printers. copiertype legal value fields are: copier4692, copier4693d, and copier4696. printertype legal value fields are: printer4692, printer4693d, and printer4696. Note: copiertype, and printertype have been replaced by the more generic destinationdevice tag and should be avoided. For more information on GRF tags see grf(5). The media_name field is an identifier string for media type, such as a, a4special, or legal. The media_type field is an identifier string for the forms type. Valid values are: paper or transparency. The width and length fields contain the width and length of the media in inches or millimeters. If the field is inches a suffix of '"' must be appended and if millimeters a suffix of 'mm' must be appended. The width_dpi and length_dpi fields contain the width and length of the media in dots per inch and contain the maximum addressability for the given printer type and media. The next fields are a set of one or more aliases for the forms in the tcprforms file. Each alias field must be a Printed 4/6/89 1
TCPRFORMS(5) COMMAND REFERENCE TCPRFORMS(5) string of one to eight characters, a requirement of the MDQS spooling system. If the forms are found in the table by the media_name then an alias must be entered that matches the media_name field. The media_name field can be no more than eight characters. Every printer should have a media type aliased to default that represents the default print media of the printer. This allows users to send GRF images to printers without knowing the specifics of what forms are loaded. The '#' character is the comment character. All characters after the comment character including the next newline character are ignored when the file is searched. EXAMPLES This example shows two possible entries for A-size paper media for the Tektronix 4693D color printer. The media can be found in the tcprforms file by either the copier4693d or printer4693d value field. The media is identified by the following set of aliases: default, a, and ap. 4693d a paper 8.5" 11.0" 2440 2492 default a a_p 4693d a paper 8.5" 11.0" 2440 2492 default a a_p This example shows an entry for A-size transparency media on the Tektronix 4693D color printer. The media is identified by the following set of aliases: at, and trans. 4693d a transparency 8.5" 11.0" 2440 2492 a_t trans This example shows an entry for A4-size media that specifies width and length in millimeters instead of inches. 4693d a4 transparency 210mm 297mm 2368 2700 a4_t FILES /usr/lib/tcpr/tcprforms Path to the tcpr valid forms file.
