HOSTNAME(1N) COMMAND REFERENCE HOSTNAME(1N) NAME hostname - set or print name of current host system SYNOPSIS hostname [ nameofhost ] DESCRIPTION The hostname command prints the name of the current host, as given before the login prompt. The superuser can set the hostname by giving an argument; this is done automatically at startup by /etc/rc.net, using netconfig(8N). The hostname is stored in the /etc/network.conf file. If the hostname is changed, shutdown(8) the system and bring it back to multi-user mode again to restart the network daemons.
