HOSTNAME(1N) COMMAND REFERENCE HOSTNAME(1N)

NAME
hostname - set or print name of current host system

SYNOPSIS
     hostname [ nameofhost ]

DESCRIPTION
The hostname command prints the name of the current host, as
given before the login prompt. The superuser can set the
hostname by giving an argument; this is done automatically
at startup by /etc/rc.net, using netconfig(8N). The
hostname is stored in the /etc/network.conf file.

If the hostname is changed, shutdown(8) the system and bring
it back to multi-user mode again to restart the network
     daemons.

FILES
     /etc/network.conf
                  current host data

RETURN VALUE
[USAGE] Incorrect command line syntax. Execution
                    terminated.

[P_ERR] A system error occurred. Execution
                    terminated. See intro(2) for more
                    information on system errors.

[NP_ERR] An error occurred that was not a system
                    error. Execution terminated.
