GRFEXPAND(1) COMMAND REFERENCE GRFEXPAND(1) NAME grf_expand - restore a compressed GRF file to uncompressed form SYNOPSIS grfexpand DESCRIPTION The grfexpand program restores a file compressed by the grfcompress command (see grf_compress(1)) to its original form. Generic Raster Format (GRF) files are compressed to save storage space and reduce transfer time. This program has no command line parameters. Input is from standard input and output is to standard output. Everything grfexpand needs to know is in the GRF header. All three levels of compression are supported: pixel, simple, and pattern; grfexpand will not expand a file if its header shows it is not compressed. For further information on GRF headers and tags, see grf(5). A compressed GRF file does not need to be run through the grfexpand program before it can be used as input to other tcpr programs. The processing command (processing(1)) as well as the GRF protocol drivers (tcprdrv_Tek4692.8mdqs, tcprdrv_Tek4693D, and tcprdrv_4696.8mdqs) automatically expand a compressed GRF file. FILES stdin Input is a compressed GRF screendata or copydata file. stdout Output is a normal uncompressed GRF screendata or copydata file. DIAGNOSTICS The grfexpand command prints a warning message if the input GRF header shows no pattern compression; this indicates the file was compressed by a utility other than the grfcompress program. CAVEATS The grfexpand command does not expand a monochrome data file consisting of a 1-bit pixel field width.
