RMSW(8) COMMAND REFERENCE RMSW(8) NAME rmsw - remove a software package from hard disk. SYNOPSIS /etc/rmsw [ -s ][ -t ][ -f filename ] product_name DESCRIPTION Rmsw allows users to make a backup of a specified package and remove it from hard disk. When a product_name is entered, rmsw makes a backup on files listed in the corresponding Bill of Materials (BOM) file within the /usr/lib/bom directory before de-installation. Rmsw places an INSTALL shell script automatically onto a backup media for the purpose of re-installation (see sysadmin(8)). OPTIONS -s Specifies streaming cartridge tape (/dev/tc) backup media (default is floppy disk). -t Specifies 9-track tape (/dev/rmt) backup media (default is floppy disk). -f filename Specifies that the output will be put into filename. The filename can refer to a floppy disk, cartridge tape or any other device and file. product_name Product name can be any software package which has a BOM (Bill Of Material) file in the /usr/lib/bom directory with the exception of the core package. For example, acceptable values can be pascal, fortran or man. Only one software package can be removed at one time. EXAMPLES /etc/rmsw man (backup on-line manuals to floppy disks and delete it from hard disk) /etc/rmsw -s pascal (backup pascal language package to a cartridge tape and delete it from hard disk) /etc/rmsw -f //host/dev/tc f77 (backup fortran language to a cartridge tape on a remote host and delete it from hard disk) FILES /dev/rdf default target device (floppy disk) /usr/lib/bom/INSTALL.DIST Printed 5/12/88 1
