NAME
intro - standard buffered input/output package

DESCRIPTION
The functions described in section 3S constitute a user-
level buffering scheme. The in-line macros getc and
putc(3s) handle characters quickly. The higher level
routines gets, fgets, scanf, fscanf, fread, puts, fputs,
printf, fprintf, and fwrite all use getc and putc; they can
     be freely intermixed.

These functions constitute the standard I/O package; see
stdio(3s) . These functions are in the C library.
Declarations for these functions may be obtained from the
     include file <stdio.h> .

INTRO(3S) COMMAND REFERENCE INTRO(3S)

     setbuffer.3s assign buffering to stream
     setlinebuf.3s assign buffering to stream
     sprintf.3s formatted output conversion
     sscanf.3s formatted input conversion
     stdio.3s standard buffered input/output package
     system.3s issue shell command
ungetc.3s push character back into input stream

CAVEATS
The standard buffered functions do not interact well with
certain other library and system functions, especially vfork
     and abort.
