XGRF(1) COMMAND REFERENCE XGRF(1) NAME x_grf - convert X window dump format to GRF format SYNOPSIS xgrf -h xgrf [ -k colordefinitionsfile ] [ print_options ] file DESCRIPTION The xgrf command is a filter program that converts an X window dump produced by the xwd utility into Generic Raster Format (GRF) for printing on a Tektronix color printer. The converted image file is written to standard output. This utility is called by the screencopy(1) command to produce hard copy output for a color printer. OPTIONS print_options These options are the same as those used by the screencopy(1) command and are documented in the Command Reference manual. -h Produce an extended set of help messages for the xgrf command. No translation from an X window dump to GRF is produced when this option is given. -k colordefinitionsfile Specifies an alternate set of color definitions for xgrf's use; this file contains an entry for each color defined, consisting of the RGB values, separated by tabs or spaces with a character string for the color name. If a color name consists of more than one word, use the underscore (_) character as a word separator. For example, the entry for orange_red in a color definitions would be 255 127 0 orangered. The xgrf utility uses the file /usr/lib/rgb.txt as the default colordefinitionsfile. EXAMPLES The following example shows the work done by the screencopy utility to produce a screen copy in the X environment. The file xwd_file is converted to GRF and then spooled to the default color printer connected to the MDQS tcpr(1) (Tektronix color printer) queue. xwd -out xwd_file x_grf xwd_file >grf_file tcpr grf_file Printed 5/19/88 1
XGRF(1) COMMAND REFERENCE XGRF(1) The following example converts an X window dump file to GRF using portrait center orientation and an image rendering of eight colors on the Tektronix 4693D color printer: x_grf -O portrait_center -e eight_color -o 4693D xwd_file >grf_file FILES /usr/lib/tcpr/grf_header.xxxx Contains the default header for each of the color printers, where xxxx can be 4692, 4693D, or 4696. /usr/lib/tcpr/dbm_xxxx Contains a data base of valid printer options, where xxxx can be 4692, 4693D, or 4696. The xgrf utility uses this file to check for valid command line options for each of the color printers and to generate valid GRF header tags. RETURN VALUE [NO_ERRS] Command completed without error. [NP_ERR] An error occurred that was not a system error. Execution terminated. [NP_WARN] An error warranting a warning message occurred. Execution continues. [P_ERR] A system error occurred. Execution terminated. See intro(2) for more information on system errors. [P_WARN] A system error occurred. Execution continues. See intro(2) for more information on system errors. [USAGE] Incorrect command line syntax. Execution terminated. CAVEATS The xgrf utility handles a maximum of 12 planes.
