HFS(8) — MAINTENANCE COMMANDS
NAME
hfsd − TOPS hierarchical file system
SYNOPSIS
/usr/tops/rpc.hfsd
/usr/tops/hfs_build [directory list]
DESCRIPTION
Rpc.hfsd is the TOPS hierarchical file system data server. It provides database lookup service for TOPS servers for information that would otherwise be very time consuming to obtain. Directory number to name mappings are stored here. Subdirectory and subfile counts are stored also. A table of locally open TOPS files is also maintained. The database is maintained in memory and is reconstructed at boot time.
Hfs_build initializes the hfs service database from the UNIX file system. Hfs_build takes a list of directories as its argument list. Each named directory is recursively descended and hfs entries are made for all directories and subdirectories encountered. If no command line arguments are passed, hfs_build uses the current list of published volumes.
