ANALYZER(1)  —  USER COMMANDS

NAME

analyzer − OpenWindows interface for analyzing an experiment that is generated by using the Collector in the Debugger.

SYNOPSIS

analyzer   [ experiment name  ]

AVAILABILITY

This command is available with the SPARCworks product.

DESCRIPTION

The Analyzer is a graphical data analysis tool that helps analyze performance data that is collected using the Collector in the Debugger.  During the execution of a process under the Debugger, the Collector gathers profiling information.  Using this collected data, the Collector creates an experiment.  The Analyzer reads in the experiment, analyzes the data, and displays that data in a graphical display.  The displays supported by the Analyzer are:  Overview, Histogram, Cumulative Histogram, Address Space, and Statistics.  If the experiment is not specified on the command line, then it needs to be opened from within the Analyzer.

In addition to analyzing the data, the Analyzer also provides a reordering functionality.  Based on the experiment, the Analyzer can generate a mapfile that when used with the static linker (ld) to relink the application will create an executable with a smaller working set size.

To activate the Analyzer, you can type analyzer [experiment name] or you can activate the Analyzer from the SPARCworks Tool Manager.

The Analyzer supports Spot Help on all of its button menus and pop-up windows.
