helpopen(1) — USER COMMANDS
NAME
helpopen − program to communicate with helpviewer using RPC calls
SYNOPSIS
helpopen view-link
AVAILABILITY
helpopen and related utilities are available only as part of the Sun OpenWindows 3.0, which requires the Sun-4 architecture, and SunOS 4.1 (or later).
DESCRIPTION
helpopen is a utility for programmatically controlling helpviewer(1).
helpopen takes a helpviewer-style hypertext link and passes it through RPC to a running helpviewer for execution. If no helpviewer is running, helpopen starts one.
OpenWindows users do not typically need to use helpopen or understand the helpviewer hypertext-link syntax.
DIAGNOSTICS
helpopen(1) prints an error message on failure and returns non-zero exit status.
NOTES
The helpviewer hypertext-link language is not documented.
BUGS
helpviewer and helpopen do not share the same view of the file system, since they are separate processes and could be running on different machines.
