NAME

atmplumb − configure an ATM device

SYNOPSIS

/opt/SUNWatm/bin/atmplumb interface plumb

/opt/SUNWatm/bin/atmplumb lane_interface interface plumb

/opt/SUNWatm/bin/atmplumb interface sigplumb [ uni3.0 | uni3.1 ]

AVAILABILITY

SUNWatmu

DESCRIPTION

atmplumb configures an ATM device for the specified type of traffic; it provides the equivalent function for ATM that the command ‘ifconfig le0 plumb’ provides for the ethernet interface. The first form sets up interface (for instance ba0) for Classical IP traffic. The second sets up interface as lane_interface (for instance lane0) for LAN Emulation traffic. Finally, the third form configures only the signaling drivers, so users who wish to run native-ATM applications using ATM signaling may do so.

After atmplumb has been used to configure an interface, the interface should be listed in the output of ‘ifconfig -a,’ either as baN or saN in the case of Classical IP and signaling only, or as laneN in the case of LAN Emulation.  In all cases, N refers to the instance number.  Further ifconfig operations may then be performed on the ATM interface.

NOTES

This functionality replaces the ‘ifconfig <interface> plumb’ functionality.  The plumb option of ifconfig SHOULD NOT be used with a SunATM interface.  Only the atmplumb command should be used, as described in this man page.
