vuetypes(1)

NAME

vuetypes − generates a list of the VUE action and filetype definitions

SYNOPSIS

vuetypes [−list] [−help]

DESCRIPTION

vuetypes is an TriTeal VUE client that lists the action and filetype definitions.  This is useful in understanding where VUE is getting the information for its’ databases and how it is using that information to construct the databases.

vuetypes lists the following information:

1. Syntax errors - if a syntax error is found in an action or filetype definition, vuetypes will list the name of the definition, the name of the file where the definition is defined and a brief description of the syntax error.  Definitions with syntax errors are ignored when a VUE component loads the action and filetype databases.  2. Action and filetype statistics: the number of filetypes, the number of actions, the location of the databases (in the host:/directory format) and the name and location of the database files.  If applicable, both the VUE 2.0 and VUE 3.0 databases will be listed. 3. Definition warnings - if a definition contains suspect data (such as an icon name that is not in the icon search path), vuetypes will list the name and location of the definition and a brief description of the problem.  Despite this warning, definitions in this list are used by the VUE components when the action and filetype database are loaded.

After the above information, vuetypes prints the following "detailed" listings:

1. Filetypes - all of the VUE filetype definitions. 2. Actions - all of the VUE action definitions. 3. Action-based filetypes - this list contains useful information for multiply-defined actions.

OPTIONS

vuetypes has the following command-line options:

−list This option prevents the "detailed" listings from being displayed.  The default is to list the detailed listings.

−help This option causes vuetypes to list the command line options and then exit.
